 In Each Etch-O-Matic Kit There Is A Package Of  Stencils.  They Are Prepared By 
Using A Typewriter Or Dot Matrix Printer Like The Sample Shown Below.  This Is 
Quick, Easy And Cheap As You Can Do It Yourself If You Have A Typewriter.  The 
Marks Will Look Just Like You "Typed" In Black Letters On Your Parts.  If That Is 
Good Enough, Then Go This Route.  Otherwise You Can Make Your Own Dura-Film
 Stencils As Shown Below Or Even Send Us Your Artwork And We Will Make Them

MAKING DURA-FILM STENCILS
Here is How You Make Your Dura-Film Stencils In About 3 Minutes.
(NOTE: We Are Using Large Type So It Will Photograph Easily.)
  1. Create Your Stencil Copy, Artwork Or Design On Your Computer.

First Make Your Copy On Your Computer.  You Can Make Any Line Drawing,  Logo, Trademark or Simple Message You Wish.  There Is Not Much Limit Except Photos Are Difficult And Very Thin Lines Are Hard To Mark. Print Out Your Copy On A Transparency (Which Comes In The Kit)

Note: Be Sure that it prints out as Black as possible so you will have an excellent stencil created. 1. Get Transparency Ready to Expose.

Next Place The Transparency Copy On A Piece Of Unexposed Dura-Film Stencil (Which Comes In The Kit) And Finally Place A Glass Plate On Top. You can place the transparency copy either right side up or upside down.  The stencils DO NOT have a top or bottom at this point.  Simply lay the transparency on the stencil and place the glass on TOP OF THE TRANSPARENCY.  This is to hold the copy in place during exposure.  On some kits you will find two clamps to put one each side to hold the glass even more firmly.   Here is one of the Three New Stencil Makers.  (We have different sizes so you can make stencils from 4"x 4" up to large stencils 10"x 12").  You will find more on all of the Stencil Makers below.  To get your Stencil Maker ready to go simply plug it into any electrical outlet and remove the tray with the glass and black rubber pad so that you can "Load" it with your Undeveloped Stencil and your printed Transparency. 1. Develop your stencil.. Place the stencil in a pan of developer provided in the kit.  Use a sponge to gently wipe away the unexposed parts of the stencil. This will be the part that will etch. As the stencil develops, you will see the light parts getting even lighter, and you will be able to feel the light parts get slightly rough. When all of your design feels rough and looks evenly light, take the stencil out of the developer.  Once the stencil is completely developed, wash all of the developer fluid off of the stencil under running water. Use a paper towel to blot dry the stencil. Your Stencil Is Now Ready To Use To Mark Your Knives Or Anything Metal. 1. Now you are ready to etch.

Here We Are Marking A Saw Blade Since It Is Large Enough To Make A Good Photo.  You Simply Lay The Stencil On The Blade, Wet The Etch-O-Matic Pad (On Bottom) With Electrolyte, Then Place The Etch-O-Matic On The Stencil, Ground For A Few Seconds And Then Remove And Your Blade Is Permanently Marked.
